Social Media for Industry and Commerce

Happy Holidays everyone!

Today I want to begin talking about applying a decidedly social technology to a very unsocial activity; Marketing capital equipment....

The challenge in business is always determining which up and coming technologies to embrace and which ones to ignore. There's a ton of information out there about social media but the question so many people have is how does this help my business make money? That my friends is a GREAT question but one that requires a more abstract understanding of what social media is (or can be) and how to deploy it successfully in non-traditional industries.

I say non traditional because Starbucks does social media well... And Apple does social media well, But how about companies like Caterpillar or Exxon? Is there really an opportunity for companies that aren't consumer products oriented to use these tools well? The answer is ABSOLUTELY!

In the coming weeks, I will keep sharing concepts and illustrations of how the smartest marketing companies are using this new technology to power their growth engines. Stay tuned and feel free to contact me if I can offer you any guidance or perspective on how to make your own efforts more productive.  Take Care
