14% of online viewers trust Advertisers... 90% trust friends... What does that imply for the future of marketers? Get to Know User Generated Content (USG). to thrive in online environments

It begins by understanding User Generated Content and the changing balance of power brought about by the internet. First lets understand user generated content... Its not about how great I tell you my products or services are, its about how great OTHERS tell you it is... Especially if those others are your friends, peers and acquaintances. Their opinions carry 10 times the credibility.

Social Media for Industry and Commerce

Happy Holidays everyone!

Today I want to begin talking about applying a decidedly social technology to a very unsocial activity; Marketing capital equipment....

The challenge in business is always determining which up and coming technologies to embrace and which ones to ignore. There's a ton of information out there about social media but the question so many people have is how does this help my business make money? That my friends is a GREAT question but one that requires a more abstract understanding of what social media is (or can be) and how to deploy it successfully in non-traditional industries.

I say non traditional because Starbucks does social media well... And Apple does social media well, But how about companies like Caterpillar or Exxon? Is there really an opportunity for companies that aren't consumer products oriented to use these tools well? The answer is ABSOLUTELY!

In the coming weeks, I will keep sharing concepts and illustrations of how the smartest marketing companies are using this new technology to power their growth engines. Stay tuned and feel free to contact me if I can offer you any guidance or perspective on how to make your own efforts more productive.  Take Care

Why is California Broke?

What is a reasonable Salary for a Town Administrator of a City of 37,000 people with a per capita annual income of $13,652?
.
Is $ 787,637 enough?
.
How about the Police Chief...
.
Is $ 457,000 enough?
.
You realize this is more than the President of the United States earns...
.
Never mind that the Chief is making $150,000 more than the Chief of Police in LA
or that the City Council Members who are PART TIME employees get paid $100,000/ yr.
.
Nothing like having the right to vote for your own pay raise...
.
HAVE I GOT A DEAL FOR YOU...

Good Toys Gone Bad

As was said in A Christmas Story "...Ralphie you'll take an eye out with that thing..." I find the history of Toy recalls fascinating... There are some real classic boo boo's out there. For example this one from Mattel. Its the Sonic Blaster! The Air Bazooka strong enough to knock down a target 20 feet away.

Problem was that the blast would knock out your ear drum at the same time. At +160 decibals, you put that great toy right up against your ear and KABOOM... What Mom? Sorry I cant hear you.

And do you recognize the commando in the last two photos? (Answer below) Dont Peek!!! If you have one that doesnt work. I've perfected the restoration. Drop me a note and I'll help you fix it. Have FUN.
